JACK CATTERALL VS JORGE LINARES - FIGHT TRENDS AND STATS

Top super-lightweight contender Jack Catterall returns to action this weekend as he faces off with former three-weight world champion Jorge Linares in Liverpool.

Unbeaten in his first 26 fights as a professional, Catterall was controversially beaten in his quest to become undisputed at 140lbs by Josh Taylor in 2022.

A highly anticipated rematch between the pair was due to take place, but with that fight yet to materialise, Catterall has had to crack on with his career elsewhere and returned in May to dominate Darragh Foley over 10 rounds.

His opponent on Saturday is a legend of the sport. Boasting a career spanning over 20 years, and with four world titles won across three weight classes to his name, Jorge Linares is one of the most respected and idolised fighters in boxing.

While the two men may be at opposite ends of their careers, they share the same goal - a shot at a world title.

Here, we take a look at the key stats and trends of both fighters ahead of Saturday’s showdown on Merseyside.

Jack Catterall:

  • 2-0 (2 KOs) when fighting at the M&S Bank Arena

  • 4-0 when fighting in October

  • Averages 6.3 rounds per fight

  • Catterall has only recorded back-to-back UD wins twice in his career

  • Undefeated in 27 fights against orthodox opponents

Jorge Linares:

  • 4-0 against British fighters

  • Two of his six KO losses have come against southpaws

  • Never lost four in a row

  • 9-2 when fighting for a WBA belt

  • Averages 6.3 rounds per fight

  • Suffered a first-round KO in his only fight so far at super-lightweight
