CANELO ALVAREZ VS JERMELL CHARLO - STATS AND TRENDS

One of the biggest names in boxing returns to action this weekend as Canelo Alvarez takes on Jermell Charlo in Las Vegas.

Heavily touted to fight Jermell’s brother Jermall, it took everyone by surprise when this fight was announced, especially considering Charlo is stepping up two weight classes as he aims to become the first man to beat Alvarez at super-middleweight.

For Charlo, it’s a big challenge with Canelo so far faultless at super-middle but there are murmurings in the boxing world that the Mexican is now on the slide after losing to Dmitry Bivol, before producing modest performances, despite winning, against both Gennadiy Golovkin and John Ryder.

Charlo, meanwhile, bounced back in emphatic style from his draw with Brian Castano by knocking out the Argentine last time out. However, two fights in three years, compared to Canelo’s seven in the same period, may well show come fight night.

Here, we take a look at the main stats and trends of the fight to give you a better idea of who may seal the victory this Saturday night.
