FIVE INTERNATIONAL PROSPECTS TO FOLLOW IN 2025

We’ve picked out our seven British prospects to follow in 2025, and now it’s time to take a deep look into the next crop of talent from the rest of the world.

We’ve chosen five fighters—some with names that may already be familiar to you and others that may not—to follow over the coming months.

First off, we’ll start with probably one of the most recognizable names in boxing already.

Curmel Moton - Lightweight

Without a doubt, the most well-known fighter on this list is Floyd Mayweather’s protégé, who has cruised to 6-0 with five stoppage wins so far in his professional career at the age of just 18.

A silky-smooth boxer who can certainly bang, much is expected already from this young man despite his lack of professional experience.

He did have his last fight called off due to an issue with his weight, but with him set to return on the Benavidez/Morrell Jr card, he could be in for a big year.

Teremoana Jnr - Heavyweight

One of the breakthrough prospects of 2024, he was defeated in the Olympics by eventual gold medalist Bakhodir Jalolov before being snapped up by Matchroom.

He was already 4-0 as a pro going into the Olympics, but since signing with Eddie Hearn and the team, he’s picked up two straight first-round stoppage wins.

A 6’6” GIANT who can move, punch, and entertain both inside and outside the ring, he looks to be one of the next crop of heavyweight talent to take over Usyk, Fury, and Joshua’s mantle in the coming years.

With Eddie promising to keep him busy in 2025, expect him to finish the year with a top 15 ranking in at least one of the governing bodies and staring down the barrel of a potential world title shot in early 2026.

Marco Verde - Super-Welterweight

A fighter who shone in Paris during the Olympics, Marco Verde is undoubtedly one of the most in-demand unsigned fighters in the world of boxing.

With big names like Matchroom, Golden Boy, and PBC all in the mix to sign him, he could well be the next Mexican superstar.

Unlike the stereotypical Mexican brawler, this is a young man who can mix it up both on the inside and the outside, making him one of the most exciting prospects in the world of boxing.

There’s been no announcement of him turning professional as of yet, but when there is, expect plenty of noise.

Carlos Jamil De Leon Castro - Super-Featherweight

A 3-0 novice, the 19-year-old Puerto Rican has featured on both MVP and, most recently, Matchroom shows in his three-fight career so far.

With two stoppage wins to his name, both coming in the first round, he’s already learned to plant his feet, and he’s absolutely enormous at the 130lbs limit.

He will no doubt fill out and probably campaign as high as super-welterweight. With Eddie Hearn a keen admirer, expect him to continue getting opportunities on Matchroom undercards and building his way into a title shot before the end of the year.

Erislandy Alvarez - Lightweight

The Olympic gold medalist Erislandy Alvarez is our final prospect to watch out for in 2025.

Similar to Marco Verde, he goes against the stereotypes of the typical fighter from his home country.

A Cuban machine who loves boxing off the front foot, he’s pure box office, both offensively and defensively.

He’s moved to 5-0 in the pros, including two wins since his Olympic gold, and with him already showcasing his talents over six rounds, he will be stepping up to 10 and 12 in no time, looking to finally make a real statement in the paid ranks.
