OLEKSANDR USYK VS TYSON FURY 2 - STATS AND TRENDS

In what is as close to a 50/50 heavyweight unification clash as you are ever likely to see, Oleksandr Usyk defends his world titles against Tyson Fury in Riyadh on Saturday night.

If you’re still unsure who’s going to win, don’t worry—we are here to help. In this article, we’ve picked out some stats and trends for each fighter, PLUS the venue it is taking place in, to help you make up your mind about what is going to happen in the 36 minutes or less at the Kingdom Arena this weekend.

Oleksandr Usyk

The undefeated former undisputed cruiserweight and current heavyweight champion of the world unsurprisingly has a plethora of stats working in his favor.

Firstly, he has a bit of a knack for beating British fighters. He has an impressive 6-0 record against fighters from the UK, which includes two stoppage victories.

As the champion that he is, he’s obviously featured in many world title fights, and that dominance is shown by the fact that he is 7-0 in world title unification fights.

After dominating at cruiserweight, he stepped up to heavyweight and currently boasts a perfect 6-0 record in his current weight class, with two of those victories coming by way of stoppage. Impressive, right?

The final and most peculiar stat is the fact that Usyk has only ever won by split decision once in his career—and in the fight after that, he won by stoppage. Could another KO win be on the way this Saturday night?

Tyson Fury

Now to the Gypsy King. For the third time in his career, he challenges for multiple world titles.

By far the most intriguing stat about Fury is his record in rematches.

From the three rematches he’s had—against John McDermott, Derek Chisora, and Deontay Wilder—he has won every one by stoppage. He’s just a man who loves a good old rematch.

Similarly, the last time he went into a fight off the back of a fight that he didn’t win, he came back with a KO victory. That win was the Wilder trilogy bout back in 2021.

Southpaws are notoriously tricky, especially Oleksandr Usyk, but the Gypsy King has a rather impressive record against them. Of the eight southpaws he has faced in his career, he has won every fight apart from his last bout against Usyk.

The fourth and final stat sets up the fight perfectly. In Fury’s two fights in Saudi Arabia, the judges have scored them as split decisions. Could Fury make it a hat trick of split decisions this Saturday night?

Kingdom Arena

Last but not least, we take a look back at fights that have taken place at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh and have found a couple of interesting stats.

Firstly, three of the five main events that have taken place at the Kingdom Arena have ended in stoppages.

Also, of the 17 heavyweight contests that have taken place inside the venue, 12 have ended by way of stoppage.

On that basis, we could be in for a very exciting night of boxing this Saturday.
